Join the official ENSEMBLE Music and Mental Health Conference in Guimarães

The partners of project ENSEMBLE would like to cordially invite members of the general public interested in the fields of music and mental health and their complementarities to the official Music and Mental Health Conference to be held as a culmination of the Project’s activities on Saturday, 11th April 2026 and Sunday, 12th April 2026 in Guimarães, Portugal.
Please join us in this amazing celebration of music, mental health, community and the power of singing together!
The below is the planned conference programme:
Saturday, April 11, 2026: Conference
At Sociedade Martins Sarmento, Guimarães
15:00-18:00
- Conference
Reflecting on artistic practices, especially music and choral singing, as they relate to the understanding of mental health issues.
The conference will be led by specialists, with Inês Homem de Melo (psychiatrist and singer), Pedro Morgado (psychiatrist) and other professionals in the music field, such as Carlos A. Correira, Janete Costa Ruiz and Tim Steiner.

Sunday, April 12, 2026: Workshop and Performance
At Teatro Jordão, Guimarães
15:00-16:30
- Workshop
A large workshop, open to choirs and the general public, led by Tim Steiner, where everyone learns and creates music around the song “I Hear You”, ENSEMBLE’s original song written for choirs.
17:30-19:00
- Live performances by VOCA Choir (Malta) and Voces Blancas del Nalón (Spain), followed by the live premiere of the song “I Hear you”, performed together with the invited musicians, choirs and audience, in the presence of distinguished guests.
ENSEMBLE (Encouraging Neighbourhoods to Support European Mental Health By Leading through European Song” official Music and Mental Health) is a project co-financed by the Small Cooperation Projects Scheme under the EU’s Creative Europe Programme. Moreover, the Project has been co-funded by the NGO Co-Financing Fund (NCF) managed by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS) supported by Malta’s Ministry for Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector (MIVS). The final conference of the project is being organised in partnership with Município de Guimarães.
Participation to either of the events is free of charge, although it is limited according to the seating capacity of the venues chosen.
